Although CL is not fatal and the available medicines are toxic and expensive, CL on the other hand is associated with several psychosocial impacts on the patients. Often children are affected and they are stigmatized and discriminated. It is one of the reasons that children are absent from school. Affected people tend to separate themselves from their social group, lose their confidence and get depressed. Thus, due to its psychosocial effects and cosmetic importance, CL needs to be treated.
